Dr Annette Condello (PhD, The University of Western Australia), is a senior lecturer in the Department of Architecture at Curtin University, Australia, and she obtained her architecture degree and Masters of Architecture (by research) from the University of Western Australia (UWA). Previously, she held a visiting research fellowship at the National University of Mexico (UNAM). She has also taught at the Urban Design Centre and the University of Western Australia. Annette has published a sole-authored book on The Architecture of Luxury (Routledge, 2014) and co-edited with Steffen Lehmann Sustainable Lina: Lina Bo Bardi’s Adaptive Reuse Projects (Springer Publishers, 2016). She serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Luxury: History, Culture, Consumption Journal (Routledge, Taylor & Francis). Her research explores the architectural dialogue with gastronomy, glamour, spoils, sloth and luxury as sustainability in Europe and Australasia; and the migration of Italian modernism and landscape architecture in Latin America and beyond. Annette has been invited to present lectures at Italian, Mexican and Brazilian universities. She contributed at the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale at the Augmented Australia Pavilion. Her essays have appeared in journals such as Architettura, Ricerca, Citta (Arc), Studies in the History of Gardens and Designed Landscapes, architecture research quarterly (arq) and archithese.
